A leading tertiary care centre in Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Consultant Gastroenterologist with advanced endoscopy skills to join its well-established gastrointestinal department. The unit is equipped with a modern endoscopy suite offering diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI and lower GI endoscopy, ERCP, EUS, and capsule endoscopy services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead gastroenterology outpatient services, perform and supervise complex endoscopic procedures, and provide inpatient consultation across IBD, hepatology, and luminal gastroenterology. This is a senior clinical appointment with service development responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct subspecialty outpatient clinics for IBD, hepatology, GERD, motility disorders, coeliac disease, and colorectal cancer surveillance
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy including polypectomy, EMR, ESD, haemostasis, and stent insertion
• Perform ERCP with sphincterotomy, stone extraction, and biliary stenting; EUS experience is a significant advantage
• Provide inpatient gastroenterology and hepatology consultation for complex presentations
• Manage anti-TNF and biologic therapy programmes for IBD patients
• Lead the hepatology service including management of cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and liver transplant workup
• Participate in GI MDT, oncology board, and hepatobiliary team meetings
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, endoscopy quality assurance, and training

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with full postgraduate training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology
• Fellowship or Consultant-grade certification (FRCP Gastroenterology, FACG, FASGE, Arab Board, or equivalent)
• Minimum 8 years post-specialist experience with documented advanced endoscopy competency
• DOH Consultant-grade eligibility or existing DOH Gastroenterology license
• Proficiency in colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, ERCP, and endoscopic haemostasis
• EUS skills are a significant advantage
• Subspecialty experience in IBD, hepatology, or interventional endoscopy
• Strong academic record and commitment to clinical governance
