A renowned ophthalmology centre in Dubai is seeking a Specialist Ophthalmologist to strengthen its busy clinical and surgical team. The centre is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology including OCT, corneal topography, specular microscopy, and an advanced phacoemulsification suite with femtosecond laser capability.

About the Role

This role offers a varied clinical workload combining comprehensive ophthalmic examination and diagnosis with surgical procedures. The candidate will manage a broad spectrum of anterior and posterior segment conditions, perform cataract surgery, and contribute to the centre’s refractive programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic outpatient consultations for cataract, glaucoma, refractive error, diabetic retinopathy, AMD, and dry eye disease
• Perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery with premium IOL implantation
• Participate in the refractive surgery programme including LASIK/LASEK pre-operative assessment and post-operative care
• Perform YAG laser capsulotomy, SLT for glaucoma, and intravitreal injection therapy
• Manage acute ophthalmic emergencies including corneal injuries, acute angle-closure, and retinal detachment referrals
• Conduct diabetic retinopathy screening clinics and grading in collaboration with diabetology services
• Maintain structured ophthalmic documentation and surgical outcome data
• Contribute to departmental governance, audit, and junior staff supervision

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with postgraduate specialty training in Ophthalmology
• Specialist-grade qualification in Ophthalmology (FRCOphth, Arab Board, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years post-specialist experience including independent cataract surgery
• DHA Specialist-grade eligibility or existing DHA Ophthalmology license
• Documented proficiency in phacoemulsification and premium IOL implantation
• Subspecialty interest in retina, cornea, or glaucoma preferred
• Laser treatment competency (YAG, SLT, or laser refractive) is an advantage
• Strong patient communication and counselling skills for surgical consent
