A Dubai academic medical centre with a comprehensive respiratory medicine and sleep disorders programme is seeking a Consultant Pulmonologist. The department is equipped with bronchoscopy and EBUS suites, pulmonary function labs, a level-3 respiratory ICU, and an active sleep medicine and NIV programme.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead the respiratory outpatient programme, perform diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, and contribute to ICU respiratory management. Subspecialty expertise in lung cancer, COPD management, sleep medicine, or interventional pulmonology is a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pulmonology outpatient clinics for asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and bronchiectasis
• Perform diagnostic bronchoscopy, bronchoalveolar lavage, transbronchial biopsy, and EBUS-TBNA
• Manage NIV/CPAP initiation and titration for sleep-disordered breathing and hypercapnic respiratory failure
• Provide respiratory medicine input to the ICU including ventilator management, tracheostomy weaning, and pulmonary rehabilitation
• Participate in the lung cancer MDT alongside thoracic surgery, oncology, and radiology
• Conduct pulmonary function testing interpretation and six-minute walk test assessment
• Lead and contribute to respiratory audit, inhaler stewardship, and departmental governance
• Supervise and mentor respiratory fellows, junior doctors, and respiratory physiotherapy staff

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with full postgraduate training in Respiratory Medicine / Pulmonology
• Fellowship or Consultant-grade certification (FRCP Respiratory, FCCP, Arab Board, or equivalent)
• Minimum 8 years post-specialist experience in a hospital-based pulmonology unit
• DHA Consultant-grade eligibility or existing DHA Pulmonology license
• Documented bronchoscopy and EBUS competency
• ICU respiratory management experience
• Sleep medicine and NIV experience preferred
• Interventional pulmonology or lung cancer pathway leadership experience is highly advantageous
