A fast-growing Dubai private hospital group with multiple facilities across the UAE is seeking an experienced Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer to provide strategic clinical leadership across its hospital network. This is a rare executive-level appointment for a senior physician ready to transition from purely clinical practice into operational and strategic healthcare leadership.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO and hospital Board, the Medical Director will be responsible for clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and the professional development of the medical workforce. This role requires a physician with strong organisational skills, proven leadership experience, and a deep understanding of UAE healthcare regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic clinical leadership to the medical and clinical governance teams across all hospital sites
• Lead the hospital’s accreditation programmes including JCI, JCIA, or equivalent international standards
• Chair the Medical Executive Committee and Quality & Patient Safety Committee
• Oversee clinical credentialing, privileging, and the performance appraisal of all medical staff
• Develop, implement, and review clinical policies, protocols, and care pathways in line with DHA and UAE MOH requirements
• Drive quality improvement and patient safety initiatives including root cause analysis, mortality review, and near-miss reporting
• Lead medical staff recruitment in collaboration with HR, ensuring appropriate credentialing and licensure compliance
• Serve as the primary physician liaison between clinical staff, hospital leadership, and external regulatory authorities

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with postgraduate specialty training in a clinical discipline (surgery, medicine, or equivalent)
• Minimum 15 years of total clinical experience including at least 5 years in a senior medical leadership role (Medical Director, CMO, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of DHA regulatory requirements, UAE MOH standards, and international hospital accreditation (JCI preferred)
• DHA Consultant-grade eligibility or existing DHA license in a clinical specialty
• Proven track record in clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement leadership
• MBA in Healthcare Management or equivalent postgraduate management qualification is highly desirable
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience leading medical staff through hospital accreditation processes
