Consultant Oncologist – Medical

Consultant Medical Oncologist | Abu Dhabi, UAE

A major Abu Dhabi oncology and cancer care centre — affiliated with international cancer networks — is recruiting an experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist. The centre provides comprehensive cancer services across all major tumour types, with a dedicated systemic therapy unit, clinical trial programme, and multidisciplinary tumour boards.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead systemic therapy services for a designated tumour group, contribute to the multidisciplinary oncology programme, and participate in clinical research. This is a senior clinical appointment offering a genuine opportunity to shape oncology service delivery in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead medical oncology clinics for a designated tumour group (GI, breast, lung, or genitourinary cancers preferred)
• Prescribe and supervise systemic therapy including conventional chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy
• Participate in weekly tumour board MDTs alongside surgical, radiation, and palliative care teams
• Oversee the safe administration of IV chemotherapy and biological agents in the day oncology unit
• Manage acute oncological emergencies including febrile neutropenia, spinal cord compression, and hypercalcaemia
• Lead and contribute to clinical trials as principal or co-investigator in collaboration with the research team
• Ensure safe prescribing within agreed chemotherapy protocols and governance frameworks
• Mentor and supervise oncology fellows, pharmacists, and nursing staff in systemic therapy safety

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with full postgraduate training in Medical Oncology
• Fellowship or Consultant-grade certification in Medical Oncology (FRCP Oncology, FASCO, Arab Board, or equivalent)
• Minimum 8 years post-specialist experience with a solid tumour focus
• DOH Consultant-grade eligibility or existing DOH Medical Oncology license
• Experience with a broad chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy portfolio
• Clinical trial experience as PI or co-investigator is highly desirable
• Strong commitment to multidisciplinary working and evidence-based oncology
• Excellent communication skills for delivering complex oncological information to patients and families
