A high-volume Abu Dhabi multi-specialty clinic serving a large national and expatriate population is recruiting a Specialist Endocrinologist and Diabetologist. Given the UAE’s high prevalence of Type 2 diabetes (estimated at over 19% of the adult population), this is a clinically impactful and professionally rewarding role.

About the Role

The successful candidate will manage a demanding caseload of complex diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary conditions. The clinic is supported by a dedicated diabetes educator, dietitian, and podiatry team, enabling a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to diabetes management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume outpatient endocrinology and diabetes clinic covering Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, and pituitary conditions
• Initiate and optimise insulin pump therapy (CSII) and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems
• Manage complex diabetes complications including diabetic nephropathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy in collaboration with relevant subspecialists
• Prescribe and monitor novel diabetes pharmacotherapy including GLP-1 agonists, SGLT-2 inhibitors, and DPP-4 inhibitors
• Lead a structured diabetes education programme in collaboration with diabetes educators and dietitians
• Conduct thyroid fine-needle aspiration cytology and interpretation of thyroid function test panels
• Participate in the endocrinology MDT and contribute to audit and departmental quality improvement
• Supervise junior medical officers and provide educational support to nursing staff

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with postgraduate specialty training in Endocrinology and Diabetes
• Specialist-grade qualification in Endocrinology (MRCP with Endocrinology CCT, Arab Board, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years post-specialist experience in clinical endocrinology and diabetology
• DOH Specialist-grade eligibility or existing DOH Endocrinology license
• Proficiency in insulin pump management and CGM systems
• Experience with a high-volume diabetes caseload in a UAE or Gulf context preferred
• Strong multidisciplinary team working skills
• Commitment to patient education and self-management support in diabetes care
