A large Sharjah hospital group running busy surgical, obstetric, and critical care services is recruiting a Specialist Anesthesiologist to join its anaesthesia and perioperative medicine department. The department provides general, regional, and obstetric anaesthesia across eight operating theatres and a level-2 intensive care unit.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide safe anaesthesia care across a broad surgical caseload including elective and emergency surgery, caesarean sections, and endoscopy list sedation. ICU experience is advantageous and may be incorporated into the role based on departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general and regional anaesthesia for a broad surgical caseload including general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, and ENT
• Conduct obstetric anaesthesia including epidural labour analgesia, spinal and general anaesthesia for caesarean section
• Provide anaesthesia for paediatric cases in collaboration with the paediatric surgical team
• Manage perioperative pain including regional nerve blocks, epidural analgesia, and multimodal pain protocols
• Participate in the critical care team providing ICU cover for ventilated and post-operative patients
• Conduct pre-operative assessment clinics for elective and high-risk surgical patients
• Participate in the on-call rota including emergency and obstetric out-of-hours cover
• Contribute to anaesthetic audit, departmental governance, and teaching

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with postgraduate specialty training in Anaesthesiology
• Specialist-grade qualification (FRCA, FFARCS, Arab Board Anaesthesia, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years post-specialist experience in a hospital anaesthesia department
• MOHAP Specialist-grade eligibility or existing MOHAP Anaesthesia license
• Competency across general, regional, and obstetric anaesthesia modalities
• ICU/critical care experience is a significant advantage
• Paediatric anaesthesia competency preferred
• Current ALS/ATLS certification
