Consultant Psychiatrist

Consultant Psychiatrist | Dubai, UAE

A growing mental health and addiction services facility in Dubai is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead its clinical team. The facility provides both outpatient psychiatric services and a dedicated inpatient unit, treating a diverse international patient population with conditions ranging from mood disorders and psychosis to addiction and complex trauma.

About the Role

This is a senior clinical and leadership role. The successful candidate will lead ward rounds, conduct outpatient consultations, manage the MDT, and contribute to service development. Interest in addiction medicine, liaison psychiatry, or psychotherapy is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead inpatient ward rounds and formulate management plans for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions
• Conduct outpatient consultations for mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and personality disorders
• Assess and manage patients with dual diagnosis — psychiatric conditions combined with substance use disorders
• Participate in and lead the multidisciplinary team including psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatric nurses
• Perform risk assessments and implement safeguarding protocols in accordance with UAE law and DHA regulations
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications including clozapine, mood stabilisers, and long-acting injections
• Contribute to quality improvement, clinical audit, and protocol development
• Provide psychiatric liaison services to medical wards and the emergency department as required

Requirements & Qualifications

• Medical degree with full postgraduate specialty training in Psychiatry
• Consultant-grade certification in Psychiatry (MRCPsych, Arab Board Psychiatry, or equivalent)
• Minimum 8 years post-specialist experience at Consultant level in general adult or liaison psychiatry
• DHA Consultant-grade eligibility or existing DHA Psychiatrist license
• Experience in addiction medicine or dual diagnosis management preferred
• Knowledge of UAE mental health law and DHA psychiatric regulations
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing a psychiatric MDT
• Commitment to evidence-based, recovery-oriented psychiatric practice
