Netherlands: licensing exam preparation
Health professionals with a diploma from outside the EEA apply to the BIG register (CIBG) for a certificate of professional competence. After diploma assessment by Nuffic or SBB, doctors, dentists and nurses sit a professional content test (BI test); the Commission for Foreign Healthcare Graduates (CBGV) then advises. The AKV test was replaced by language certificates (NT2 B1/B2 or B2+) from 1 January 2024.

Steps to your licence
- Reach the required Dutch level (B1, B2 or B2+) and check the profession-specific appendix
- Apply to the BIG register for a certificate of competence; Nuffic or SBB assesses the diploma
- Sit the BI test (doctor, dentist, nurse) and, if invited, an interview with the CBGV
- Receive the certificate of competence and register in the BIG register
