Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon | Sharjah, UAE
An established Sharjah hospital group with active trauma and elective orthopaedic services is seeking a MOHAP-licensed Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon. The hospital operates two orthopaedic theatres, a trauma resuscitation unit, a rehabilitation gym, and a dedicated orthopaedic ward.
About the Role
This role offers a varied orthopaedic caseload combining trauma surgery, elective joint replacement, and arthroscopic surgery with a regular outpatient clinic in a well-resourced, collegial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform elective procedures including primary hip and knee arthroplasty, shoulder surgery, and soft tissue reconstruction
- Manage trauma cases including fracture fixation (ORIF, IMN, arthroplasty for hip fractures), ligament repair, and tendon surgery
- Perform arthroscopic procedures of the knee, shoulder, and ankle
- Conduct orthopaedic outpatient clinics covering joint pain, sports injuries, fracture follow-up, and deformity
- Participate in the orthopaedic trauma on-call rota
- Supervise junior orthopaedic doctors and surgical interns
Requirements & Qualifications
- Medical degree with full postgraduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery
- Specialist qualification (FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedics, Arab Board Orthopaedics, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years post-specialist experience in a hospital orthopaedic unit
- MOHAP Specialist-grade eligibility or existing MOHAP Orthopaedic Surgery license
- Competency in arthroplasty and trauma fixation; arthroscopic surgery required
